This dissertation presents a systematic study of the formation of Ukrainianfashion journalism as a socio-cultural phenomenon in the national historical narrativefor the first time in studies of Ukrainian press and journalism. The fashion journalismforms public opinion about fashion, evaluates and predicts the social significance of aparticular fashion phenomenon.The subject of the research ― the genesis and features of the functioning ofUkrainian fashion journalism ― has an interdisciplinary, polysystem andmultifunctional nature and is considered in conjunction with the theory, history andanthropology of fashion, publication science, gender research and a number of socialand economic disciplines. The tools of fashion journalism provide a number offunctions: educational, informational, interpretive, axiological, communicative,recreational and criticism functions.
