У дисертації вперше здійснено системний аналіз тенденцій розвиткупедагогічних ідей і просвітницької діяльності українських письменників ЗахідноїУкраїни (кінець ХVIII ст. – 1939 р.). Запропоновано періодизацію літературногопроцесу в Західній Україні (кінець ХVIII ст. – 1939 р.) крізь призму історико-педагогічного виміру, визначено п'ять основних періодів розвиткузахідноукраїнської літератури: 1) церковно-освітній (1772–1820-ті рр.;поділяється на два етапи: 1772–1805 рр. та 1806–1820-ті рр.); 2) будительсько-просвітницький (1830-ті – перша половина 1870-х рр., має два етапи, якірозмежовує 1848 р.); 3) піднесення літературного життя другої половини 1870-х –1914 р.; 4) воєнно-революційних потрясінь 1914–1919/1920 рр.; 5) міжвоєннийперіод ХХ ст., у якому відстежуються два етапи: 1920-ті та 1930-ті рр. Кожен зцих періодів має свої риси й особливості ідейно-ціннісного та художньо-стильового характеру, увиразнені в художніх рефлексіях широкого комплексупроблем освіти, виховання і розвитку особистості. Їхніми носіями і продуцентамивиступили представники кількох генерацій західноукраїнських письменників.Проаналізовано ідейно-тематичне й жанрове розмаїття педагогічноорієнтованих творів українських письменників, здійснено персоніфікаціюлітературного процесу на західноукраїнських землях крізь призму висвітленняосвітніх проблем. Увиразнено творчі надбання літераторів які були педагогами.Виявлено науково-педагогічні й навчально-методичні здобутки українськихписьменників означеної доби. Проаналізовано й узагальнено сутність педагогічнихпоглядів українських письменників на проблему просвітництва українськогонароду. Уточнено поняття категоріального апарату. Узагальнено досвідпросвітницької діяльності українських письменників досліджуваної доби щодорізноманітності її форм і методів; окреслено напрями творчого використанняпедагогічних ідей і досвіду просвітницької діяльності українських письменниківкінця ХVIII – 30-х рр. ХХ ст. за умов реформування сучасної вітчизняної освіти;подальшого розвитку набули уявлення про сутність і зміст просвітницькоїдіяльності української інтелігенції в галузі збереження національних традицій,культури, мови, школи кінця ХVIII ст. – 1939 р. Проаналізовано та введено донаукового обігу низку маловідомих творів вітчизняних письменників і архівнихдокументів. Удосконалено методологію пізнання розвитку тенденцій педагогічнихідей і громадсько-просвітницької діяльності.Ключові слова: українські письменники; педагогічні ідеї; просвітницькадіяльність; громадська діяльність; Західна Україна; літературний процес; тенденції.^UIn the dissertation for the first time the systematic analysis of tendencies ofdevelopment of pedagogical ideas and educational activity of the Ukrainian writers ofthe Western Ukraine (the end of the XVIII century ‒ 1939) is carried out. Theperiodization of the literary process in Western Ukraine (end of the XYIII century –1939) through the prism of historical and pedagogical dimension is proposed, fivemain periods of development of Western Ukrainian literature are identified:1) church-educational (mid-1770–1820), divided into two stages: 1772–1805 and1806–1820); 2) awakening and enlightenment (1830 ‒ the first half of the 1870, hastwo stages, which distinguishes 1848); 3) the rise of literary life in the second half ofthe 1870–1914; 4) military-revolutionary upheavals of 1914–1919/20; 5) the interwarperiod of the twentieth century, which traces the two stages of the 1920 and 1930.Each of these periods has its own features and characteristics of ideological, valueand artistic style, expressed in the artistic reflections of a wide range of problems ofeducation, upbringing and personality development. Their carriers and producerswere representatives of several generations of Western Ukrainian writers. Given theabove scientific and theoretical positions, the realities of socio-political developmentand the content and nature of the literary process, etc., identified the existence of theperiod under consideration, five generations of writers (the first falls on the 70. XVIII ‒10 XIX century, the second ‒ in the 20 ‒ late 40 of the XIX century, the third ‒ in1848–70/80 of the XIX century, the fourth ‒ in 1870/80. XIX ‒ early XX century;fifth ‒ in the 20–30 of the XX century); each of them had certain common featuresand similar views on the problems of education, upbringing, theory and practice ofpedagogy.The ideological-thematic and genre diversity of pedagogically oriented worksof Ukrainian writers is analyzed, the personification of the literary process in thewestern Ukrainian lands is carried out through the prism of coverage of educationalproblems. The creative achievements of writers who were teachers are highlighted.Scientific-pedagogical and educational-methodical achievements of Ukrainian writersof the mentioned period are revealed. The essence of pedagogical views of Ukrainianwriters on the problem of education of the Ukrainian people is analyzed andgeneralized. The concept of categorical apparatus is specified. The experience ofeducational activity of Ukrainian writers of the researched period on the variety of itsforms and methods is summarized (writing works of art for additional reading bystudents at school and abroad, promoting the distribution of Ukrainian books amongchildren and youth, theatrical performances, folk readings, etc.); the directions ofcreative use of pedagogical ideas and experience of educational activity of Ukrainianwriters of the end of the XVIII century are outlined ‒ 30 of the twentieth century interms of reforming modern domestic education; further development of ideas aboutthe essence and content of educational activities of the Ukrainian intelligentsia in thefield of preservation of national traditions, culture, language, school of the lateeighteenth century – 1939. A number of little-known works of domestic writers andarchival documents are analyzed and put into scientific circulation. The methodologyof cognition of development of tendencies of pedagogical ideas and publiceducationalactivity is improved.The problem of development of pedagogical ideas and educational activity ofUkrainian writers of Western Ukraine (end of XVIII ‒ 30 of XX century) is relevantand significant in today's conditions.
