У дисертації уперше комплексно проаналізовано історію вивчення православних братств Київської митрополії XVI–XVIII ст. в українській, польській та російській історичній думці XIX – початку XXI ст. Дослідження покликане сформувати загальне уявлення про те, як накопичувалися знання, формувалися теорії, виникали й поширювалися стереотипи у вивченні православних братств та явища братського руху. У роботі проаналізовано історіографічну базу, показано специфіку джерельної основи дослідження, а також висвітлено теоретико-методологічні підходи наукового пошуку. Комплексно досліджено представлення в історіографії питань постання та еволюції православних мирянських об'єднань. Здійснено всебічний огляд того, як у науковій історичній літературі XIX – початку XXI ст. висвітлювалася участь православних братств у релігійному, суспільно-політичному, економічному та культурному житті XVI–XVIII ст.^UIn the dissertation the history of studying of orthodox fraternities of the Kiev metropolitanate of XVI–XVIII cc. is comprehensively analyzed for the first time in Ukrainian, Polish and Russian historical thought of the XIX – the beginning XXI cc. The research is created to form a general idea of how knowledge was accumulated, theories were formed, stereotypes arose and spread in the study of Orthodox fraternities and the phenomenon of the fraternal movement.The study contains an analysis of the historiographical base of the study and scientific works of Polish, Ukrainian and Russian historians, the use of which was significant in this work. The principles and methods of scientific research used to implement the problems are highlighted.The representation in historiography of the issues of the rise and evolution of Orthodox secular associations has been comprehensively studied. Theories of the genesis of Orthodox church fraternities are analyzed. The interpretation of the concepts of “fraternity” and “fraternal movement” in the historiography of the XIX – the beginning XXI cc. is traced. The process of accumulation of knowledge of legalization and structural and organizational design of lay organizations in the historiography of the XIX–XXI cc. is studied.A comprehensive review of how in the scientific historical literature of the XIX – the beginning XXI cc. the participation of Orthodox fraternities in the religious, socio-political, economic and cultural life of the XVI–XVIII cc. was covered. Peculiarities of interpretation of issues related to social and national-political activity of lay organizations are clarified. The degree of study in historiography of economic and charitable activities of Orthodox fraternities is outlined. The study of the participation of lay organizations in the spiritual life of the Ukrainians and their involvement in various cultural processes is studied.
