Pharmacological characteristics of a novel reactivator of acetylcholinesterase, BOIMK-2D (a bispyridinium derivative possessing an oxime group), and its antidote properties with respect to toxic phosphorus organic compounds (POC) were studied. The degrees of the antidote efficacy and toxicity of BOIMK-2D and 20 related compounds were compared with the properties of the standard POC antidote dipyroxim (tests on mice, rats, and cats). According to its characteristics (moderate acute toxicity and high specific efficacy), BOIMK-2D should be considered a new effective compound demonstrating properties of a prospective POC antidote.
