Purpose. Creating a technology of intensive and safe excavation mining on the basis of identified behavior patterns of the adjacent rock massif, optimizing the parameters of preparatory work technological schemes that enhance the underground mining efficiency. The idea is to use man-caused stress-deformed state (SDS) to develop an effective technology of the marginal massif reinforcement. Methodology. Methods of the bolting selection involves computational modeling complex and field measurements in underground conditions. Implementation of analytical and experimental studies has revealed the dynamics of deformation processes in coal-rock massif around workings which allows to control the progress of geomechanical processes in the marginal massif in order to overcome the undesirable rock pressure phenomenon and ensure stability of supported excavations. Findings. Identified change patterns of coal rock massif stress-deformed state (displacements, strain, fracture zones) related to the main geological and mining factors allow to determine the optimum reinforcement parameters for enhancing development working stability. This will allow to develop new and improve the existing technologies for effective and safe reinforcement of marginal rocks for mining on flat and inclined coal-beds, relative to changing geological and mining conditions. Originality. Originality of the proposed method arises from the following: the massif state regularities are revealed for its geomechanical characteristic control are revealed; identifying patterns of the SDS change allow to select the best bolting option, when the joint work of the anchor and the rock makes it possible to adjust bolting features to the massif marginal deformation characteristics. Practical value. The advanced technological solutions have been developed to provide innovative ways and means of excavation bolting, adaptive to various mining conditions.

Purpose. The development of progressive technological schemes of roof bolting for mine tunnels for ensuring safe and effective support in the zones with increased stresses in the border rocks, unstable and broken enclosing rocks. Methodology. The study of stressed-and-strained state, rock-pressure manifestations, conditions of the workings maintenance depending on mining-and-geological, mining and technological parameters that is aimed to establish the extent of their impact on the efficiency of the mine tunnels roof bolting and justification of support patterns ensuring stability and decreasing imperfection and costs spent on its mounting and maintenance. Findings. We have developed technical and technological solutions aimed to improve the technology and means of roof bolting: carrying out in-seam workings on an outburst-prone seam; supporting development openings in unstable rocks; supporting preparatory workings in the zones with various mining pressure; constructing workings in the joint development of coal layers. Originality. We have established consistent patterns of change in the zones of inelastic deformations with their development in time and dependence of contours stability on mining-and-geological and mining factors; determined the support parameters ensuring reliable operation of the working. Based on the analytical modeling we have developed technology, systems and means aimed to decrease the imperfection of contours of workings. Practical value. The rational parameters and the field of application of roof bolting in the conditions of the Karaganda coal basin have been determined and justified. The rational technology of drifting workings has been developed based on controlling the geomechanical condition of the enclosing rock massif. Its optimum parameters depending on mining conditions have been determined. Progressive technological solutions on the ways and means of roof bolting of mining workings for complicated operation conditions have been found. The progressive technology of the development opening in coal-and-rock massif with complicated mining technological operation conditions has been developed. The parameters of roof bolting in the conditions of development of in-seam mineral deposits in the presence of the complicating factors have been justified. Technological developments passed the industrial testing at the Saranskaya, Kuzembayev, Kostenko, Kazakhstanskaya mines of the UD JSC ArcelorMittal Temirtau. The operating capacity of the means and techniques of the roof bolting has been proved. The main conclusions and recommendations provided by the research were used in practice in the design process of the coal-mines development and in the educational process.

Purpose. To develop progressive technological schemes of the roof bolting for mine workings with respect to stress distribution around workings. Methodology. Methodology of selection of the support system included the study of stress-strain state, rock pressure manifestations, conditions of working maintenance depending on mining-and-geological, mining-and-technological and mining-engineering parameters in order to determine their influence on the roof bolting efficiency and substantiate the support pattern; ensure stability and reduce deficiency and costs of driving and maintenance. Results. The stress-strain state, mining pressure manifestations, conditions of working maintenance taking into account mining and technological parameters were studied. The study allowed us to determine the extent of influence of the mentioned factors on the efficiency of roof bolting support of workings. Originality. We determined the consistent patterns of change of plastic range of stress and its evolution with time, the stability of working contours depending on mining-and-geological and mining-engineering factors, and the parameters for reliable operation of workings. Based on analytical modelling, the technology, systems and means for driving workings that promote decreasing the deficiency of contours were developed. Practical value. The results of studies focused on development of the technology of intensive and safe working driving on the basis of the revealed regularities of the behaviour of the adjoining rock massifs were presented and optimization of the parameters of technological schemes of first workings were presented. They allow controlling the anthropogenic stress-strain state and raise the efficiency of the technology of marginal rock massif support.

Purpose. Developing a technology with rope anchors hardening a roof of workings supported with steel-polymeric anchors which will exclude the roof collapse cases in zones of the increased mining pressure. Methodology. Solving problems is based on systematic analysis and generalization of theoretic and industrial domestic and foreign experience in the field of development of technological schemes of mining roadways in stratified and ore mineral deposits; data modeling of strata pressure allocation, defectiveness and stability of rock massif; analytical researches of efficient application of technological innovations; experiments in real industrial conditions. Findings. The two-level technology of supporting extraction workings based on accounting geomechanics of stressed-and-strained state of rocks around the workings with determining the optimum parameters of roof bolting depending on the influencing mining technological factors. Originality of the methods proposed in the work consists in the following: the design capability to perceive loading without delays, a great load bearing capacity, prevention of the shift and stratification of the roof rocks, formation of domes and rock inrushes; reducing methane gas emission into the working, enhanced durability of the support and increased between-repairs resource, as well as the reached economic efficiency due to the cost reduction for working support and repair. Practical value. Depending on the characteristic of the roof rocks, a way of supporting the roof rocks is developed with an anchor bridge.

Purpose. The assessment of options for opening and mining the upper tier of Oleniy Ruchey apatite-nepheline deposits and technological solutions development taking into account geomechanical calculations of open pit slopes and benches stability, both on the marginal contour and when changing the design values of the slope parameters, open pit benches and the stability safety factor to establish the marginal maximum accepted under the condition of the values stability. Methodology. Searching for technological solutions of mining is based on the method of mining and geometric analysis of the deposit upper tier, comparison, generalization, systematization, analytical calculations, 3D parametric modeling, three-dimensional numerical modeling of stress-strain state and the rock mass stability by the finite element method. Findings. According to the research results, the optimal development of mining operations has been proposed for an option providing for the minimum overburden ratio. The parameters of the highwall slopes and their elements on the marginal contour and the development of the deposit are recommended according to the option that provides the maximum possible involvement in the development of the adjacent rock mass and pit reserves mining within the existing limits of the open pit mining tap. Originality. It consists in feasibility evaluation of using a rational technology for the development of mining operations according to the option that provides for the minimum overburden ratio and possible mining development schemes for mining open pit reserves with an assessment of the possibility of internal dumping during the development of an open pit. Practical value. The calculations show that for the conditions of a lying side, the normative factor of the slope stability on the marginal contour can be ensured only if they are bank slopes worked along the weakening surfaces, whose cutting should not be permitted.
