This article focuses on some basic metaphorical representations used in the political discourse of the parliamentary debates in the UK. In general political sphere is characterized by high metaphoricity that gives more significance to the information and intensifies its importance. The research demonstrates how the Conservatives use some basic universal metaphorical representations in their debates, such as politics as war. They also use some non-widespread metaphors such as politics as plants and machines. The formation of such metaphors is studied with the help of propositional and metaphoric modeling, as well as contextual-interpretational and componential analysis. The propositional modeling aims to define the structure of propositions in the donor domains and in the recipient domain politics. The metaphoric modeling helps to explain the mechanism of donor and recipient domains' integration. This paper deals with the peculiarities of donor domains and the recipient domain politics integration in the UK parliamentary debates. Donor domains provide the recipient domain politics with language signs that form the basis of metaphors. The article also determines cognitive background and extralinguistic factors influencing the usage of metaphoric models in the British parliamentary debates. Such debates represent the events and phenomena of the period when the Conservatives gain majority in the parliament.

This article focuses on the basic metaphorical representation used in the political discourse of the parliamentary debates in the UK. In general political sphere is characterized by high metaphoricity that gives more significance to the information and intensifies its importance. The research demonstrates how the British MPs use the basic universal metaphorical representation of politics as family relations and hunting, as well as their influence on their day-to-day parliamentary work and the procedure of the debates. The formation of these metaphors is studied with the help of propositional and metaphoric modeling, as well as contextual-interpretational and componential analysis. The propositional modeling aims to define the structure of propositions in the source domains family life, hunting and in the target domain politics. The metaphoric modeling helps to explain the mechanism of source and target domains' integration. This paper deals with the peculiarities of source domain and the target domain realization in the UK parliamentary debates. It determines cognitive background and extralinguistic factors influencing the usage of the metaphoric model in the British parliamentary debates. It also highlights the importance of traditions and norms in the British parliamentary debates and deals with the hansards that represent the events and phenomena of the post-Thatcher period in the UK parliament.

This article focuses on the dynamics of metaphor in the English electronic discourse "Elections 2010 - 2012 in Ukraine". It focuses on new donor domains' appearing, aspect specter of donor domains' broadening, donor domains' fading and metaphoric representations' expanding within one domain as types of metaphoric dynamics. Here the dynamics of metaphor is studied with the help of propositional and metaphoric modeling, as well as contextual-interpretational and componential analysis. The propositional modeling aims to define the structure of propositions in the donor domains and in the recipient domain Politics. The metaphoric modeling helps to explain the mechanism of donor and recipient domains' integration. This paper deals with the peculiarities of donor domains and the recipient domain Politics integration in the texts of the English electronic political articles. Donor domains provide the recipient domain Politics with language signs that form the basis of metaphors. The article also determines cognitive background and extralinguistic factors influencing the changes of metaphoric models in the English electronic mass-media. Such online newspapers represent the events and phenomena of the 2010 presidential elections and 2012 parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

This article concentrates on the peculiarities of the parliamentary debates as a type of the political discourse. Parliamentary debates are analyzed as the certain speech genre that has its differentiating features. For this research the transcripts of the parliamentary debates in the UK in the post-Thatcherism period are chosen, particularly the transcripts of the debates in the House of Lords and the House of Commons during the Conservative and the Labour lead. These debates are investigated by certain parameters, taking into consideration the structural, semantic and pragmatic characteristic features. The debates show the strict time and theme regulations and the high association of the modern parliamentarian procedures with the customs and traditions of the past. The article also points out institutionalized and non- institutionalized peculiarities of the parliamentary debates in the UK. The profound analysis of the debates highly demonstrates not only the formal procedural rules and norms of the parliament, but shows the features inherent to the British national character.
