Mechanical constraints pressure, impact, stress, deformation and their variations with timeinduce dramatic changes in processes which are sometime considered to be from chemical essence. This domain of mechanochemistry is specially wide in the field of solid state materials for which thermomechanical treatments, mechanical alloying, mechanosynthesis showed since a long time how powerful and sometime how complex appear these interference or synergy between chemical, physical, thermodynamical parameters and mechanical ones. In order to analyze these phenomena the simple case of Fe4N was chosen for which a FCC - HCP transformation is induced by ball milling and for which the choice of relevant ultrasonics conditions (high power ultrasonics: 1000 W, 20 kHz) leads to similar transformations. Characterization of materials was achieved by X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer spectroscopy. From the comparison between experimental results and different numerical simulation a modeling is discussed which underlines the common as well as the specific features of these mechanically induced transformations.
