The article outlines the ways of providing an access for a wide circle of Ukrainian users to patent information, first of all national, in particular free current acquisition of patent collections by the official publications of the State Department of Intellectual Property on paper and electronic data carriers, creation of specialized databases, information and reference systems and providing access to them through the Internet. Information about one of the crucial elements of the reference and search tool to patent collections - the drastically reformed eighth edition of the International Patent Classification and peculiarities of its implementation in Ukraine is given. A review of measures to facilitate access of different unser categories to free foreign patent information Internet resources is given.
