In the history of the southern and eastern Slavs there is a common spiritual and cultural heritage called Slavophilism, which fully manifested itself in the 40-70s of the 19th century in Russia. In the scientific literature, Slavophilism is classified in different ways: conservative utopia, worldview-philosophical and spiritual-religious doctrine, secular religious philosophy, etc. Researchers' interest in Slavophilism has not waned, as the idea of Slavic reciprocity has no chronological boundaries. On the basis of historiographical analysis of the main publications and used primary sources (collections of documents, literary and journalistic works and epistolary heritage of Slavophiles, documents of the Institute of Manuscripts of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine) the historical conditionality of Slavophilism is shown, its founders, supporters, followers and neo-Slavophiles are characterized, the essence of their teaching, its modifications, religious-philosophical, moral and political component is revealed. Their hyperbolization of the national peculiarities and exclusivity of the Russians laid the foundations of chauvinism.

Keywords: spiritual and cultural heritage, Slavophilism, 40–70s of the 19th century, Pan-Slavism, Eurasianism.
