The collective monograph is the result of scientific research on the history of book culture in Ukraine, conducted by scientists of the Institute of Book Studies of the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine during 2016–2018. The research is based on the funds of the departments of early printed and rare books, fine arts, music books and collections, foreign Ukrainica collections, librarian gatherings and historical collections, as well as the sector of VNLU cartography. The history of the book culture of Ukraine in the 16th–19th centuries, which appears on the pages of this publication, has a diverse but absolutely reliable character since it is based on specific documentary sources.
