The life and scientific-pedagogical path of the Ukrainian historian, archaeologist, archeographer, numismatist, museologist, ethnographer and public figure Vasyl Danylevych – one of the successive students of the historical school of V. Antonovych, was comprehensively researched on the basis of historiographical publications and manuscript sources; organizational activity was reproduced, lecture courses taught by him at the Kyiv University of St. Volodymyr, Kharkiv University and women's gymnasiums, Kyiv Higher Women's Courses, Warsaw University in Rostov-on-Don, his attitude to then social and political events were analyzed; work at the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, at the Research Department of the History of Ukraine of M. Hrushevskyi and reformed higher educational institutions of Ukraine in the 1920s and 1930s is characterized.

The study is intended for scientists, as well as those who are interested in the role of the individual in the historical process, in particular in the scientific-pedagogical and social-political spheres.
