The proposed book is the summarising research of the body of handwritten books of XV in fonds of Institute of the Institute of Manuscripts of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. The monography studies the repertoire of handwritten books as the result of of historical-cultural circumstances for cyrillic handwritten book of XVI century development; it analyzes the set of questions related to attribution of manuscripts, such identifying city of origin of paper with distinct filigrees, its usage for writing manuscripts of a given country, dating of manuscript memorials, etc; exterior design of handwritten books, characteristics of written text and their role as a history source. Also it explains the foundation of database “CODEX : Manuscript books. KODEKS : Rukopysni knyhy”, aimed at preservation of structured codicology description and attempts at its application in codicology researches. The referential album has filigrees of handwritten books of XVI centuries from the Institute of Manuscripts of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine.
