The represented collection of autobiographic documents is the next stage of examination of the Permanent Commission’s activity and advances for completion of the Ukrainian Public Figures’ Biographic Dictionary, which was working in the framework of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in 1918 – 1933. Autobiographies and answers to the questions of Ukrainian public figures’ questionnaires of the end of XIX century – 1930th were expediently accumulated in this commission to complete the appropriate Biographic Dictionary. The collection includes 143 documents of well-, little- known and almost unknown public figures of various professions, differentiating them from prominent collections “By Themselves”. Autobiographic narratives as a special form characterizing human activity collectively form the correspondent social and cultural contexts of the period, in which the author of every document has put image of his/her “Ego”. A large number of documents have been published for the first time.

The publication is intended for everyone, who is interested in Ukrainian history of the end of XIX century – the first third of XX century in its diverse personal dimension.
