The twelfth edition contains articles where the transformation of the modern library system as a whole and particular directions of its activity is analyzed , the results of research investigations of libraries are generalized, innovative aspects of their research and practical activities are considered. The first section of this issue devoted to the 200th anniversary of the birth of T. H. Shevchenko. It contains articles by Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakh scholars on the life and work of Kobzar. Special attention is paid to the future of libraries and different areas of their activities, modern problems of cataloging, development strategy of funds. One of the main problems to consider is the development of electronic resources and information technologies. The articles presented in the sections “Marketing activity of the libraries”, “Investigations in the field of book culture”, “History of libraries and library collections”, “Educational activities of libraries” and “Publishing activity of libraries” are of interest of library specialists. Experience of international activity at academic libraries in Ukraine and Belarus is presented in the section “International cooperation of libraries.
