The monograph on a wide documentary basis explores the life path and scientific activity of the prominent Ukrainian scientist in the field of mechanics of the academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR Anatoly Kovalenko (1905-1973). Particular attention is paid to the activity of AD Kovalenko as the head of the Institute of Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1959-1965) and the head of the department of technical theory of elasticity and plasticity of this institute, the head of the department of elasticity theory of KSU TH Shevchenko (1949-1959). The activity of AD Kovalenko as an employee and chief scientific secretary of the Presidium of the Ukrainian SSR Academy of Sciences. The participation of the scientist in the national and international scientific-information exchange is revealed. Formation of AD Kovalenko Scientific School is investigated. An illustration of the scientist's biography of the scientist is a collection of images of documents and photographs. At the end of the book there are the annexes "The list of AD Kovalenko's reports on scientific forums", "Theses and dissertations prepared under the direction of AD Kovalenko", the list of abbreviations and the index.

The publication is intended for researchers of the history of science of Ukraine, scientists in the field of mechanics, historians, archivists, source scientists.
