The monograph is devoted to a comprehensive study of the essence of archives as institutions of national memory. The authors consider the role, place and integrated functions of the Institute of Archival Studies of the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine and academic scientific archives in the formation, preservation, research, dissemination and use of objective information of historical and cultural document complexes, aiming at establishing, enriching and protecting the national memory about the Ukrainian science. Priorities and practical recommendations regarding the further development and enhancement of the value of the archives of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and their document and reference complexes in the information society have been formulated. The appendices provide data on the archival collections of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and its institutions and the personal archival collections of Ukrainian scientists stored in the Institute of Archival Studies of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine.

The publication is intended for researchers in the field of archival studies, document studies, source studies, history of science, national memory studies, as well as teachers, graduate and postgraduate students, and employees of archival institutions.
