The volume contains proceedings of the international scientific conference “Library. Science. Communication. Strategic Tasks of the Development of Scientific Libraries”, organized by the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (October 3–5, 2017). The papers address current issues of the systemic development of scientific libraries as an important factor in the progress of the library and information sphere of Ukraine, as well as the place and role of scientific libraries in contemporary socio-communicative processes.

Ukrainian and foreign specialists highlight theoretical and applied aspects of implementing strategically important tasks and local projects for the development of scientific libraries, in particular through the deepening of integration processes with institutions of science, education, and culture. The papers consider issues of scientific, methodological, and technological support for the formation and development of electronic library and information resources, attribution and expertise of manuscript and book heritage, innovative bibliometric technologies and scientometric research, implementation of international standards, and preservation of library collections. The results of scholarly historical studies, analyses of current trends, and prospects for the development of national bibliography and biographica are also presented.

The publication is intended for professionals in the library and information field, specialists in the document and communication sphere, as well as lecturers, postgraduate students, and students of higher education institutions.
